A modernized experience

Collectively, we created a digital experience that captures Verve's important mission: the science behind their work to treat cardiovascular disease (CVD) while highlighting the benefits of their groundbreaking gene-editing treatments.

The sum of its parts

The initial challenge when developing Verve, was identifying the use of web components which could be reused throughout the site. There was a lot of similarities between the designed components, so identifying which components could be consolidated for more than one purpose was integral for efficiency.

Through collaboration and communication with my team, we were able to identify fields which would make components versatile, allowing for reusability. Small things such as margin and padding controls were included as part of their field sets, utilizing preferences set by the content manager which changed the components appearance, allowing for more variety and flexibility.

Agressive timelines

The turn around time was aggressive and there were additional factors which could have pushed the timeline further back. However, the development team was able to work together to deliver the product on time and to the original schedule. One of the main contributing factors for this projects success was leveraging the power of the Pattern Lab tool, allowing for components to be developed in an isolated state.

This allowed developers to work in silo's focusing on assigned components, developing and testing according to the functional spec. Additionally, integrating the components into Drupal could begin much sooner, once components passed QA and testing.

While developing Verve presented challenges and a tight deadline, it underscored my ability to manage a project by delegating tasks among the team and helping with development where needed. My experience in project management at previous employment, allowed me to play a pivotal role in sprint planning, ensuring that components were divided among the developers for optimal efficiency. I also provided crucial support to other developers during key stages, finalizing component builds once they had been tested.

The project also highlighted my proficiency in Drupal and theme development. I was responsible for integrating various components, including an engaging, animated slideshow that illustrated the key stages of Verve's gene editing process.
